Should Your Child Homeschool?

homeschool Homeschool isn’t the answer for every child. Some children do very well at public school or private school. In that case, the parents and the children are happy. However, many children are challenged by relationships at school. Bullies harass some children. Some children are followers always following the wrong crowd. Some children are teased relentlessly for special needs, physical differences, or their looks. Some children struggle academically, others are bored and being held back by their peers.

These children could benefit from homeschool.

Is your child failing public school?

Is your child failing public school? Is it because of the routine, deadlines, boredom, behavior problems, or reading assignments? Chances are if your child is failing public school for any reason, your child could pass or excel at homeschool. Because you know your child’s learning capabilities best, you can individualize your child’s education. You could allow your child more time to complete assignments if necessary or help with one on one reading help.

Is your child bored at public school?

Is your child bored at public school? Have you already discussed the need to challenge your child with administrative personnel but not had any results? You could administer your own placement tests to see where your child is academically and order grade appropriate material. You could have your child take the entrance test at the local college to see if your child is ready to begin classes there. Usually community colleges have free entrance test.

Is your child excelling at public school socially and academically?

Is your child excelling at public school both socially and academically? That is wonderful. If you have no behavior concerns then you should consider leaving your child at public school. It doesn’t sound like your child needs any changes.

Does your child have ADHD or learning differences?

Does your child have ADHD or learning differences that make it difficult to pay attention, make friends, or complete assignments on time? Has this caused your child to have low self-esteem even though your child is bright? Then your child could excel at homeschool. When your child is having one of those days when concentration is nowhere to be found teach home economics or take a field trip. Does your child listen better while rolling play-doh or building with legos? You can let your child do these things at homeschool. You could even have your child work for an hour at a time and take hour breaks in between if that helps your child learn.

Does your child have behavior problems at public school?

Does your child have behavior problems at public school? Are you always getting phone calls from the principal’s office? Does your child steal at school? Well if your child steals at homeschool, at least the stuff never leaves your house. Is your child always forgetting assignments or homework? At homeschool, you know all of your child’s assignments so that isn’t a problem.
