The ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas is the primary trade show for the juvenile products industry and it is a great place to see all of the exciting new product releases for 2010. Busy Mommy had the opportunity to attend the ABC Kids Expo this year for the first time and we hope to make it a yearly event. The 2009 ABC Kids Expo featured some wonderful new products as well as some great changes to a few old favorites and we are looking forward to sharing many of these products with you in the coming months. The highlights of the 2009 ABC Kids Expo for me as a mom include a variety of products in a wide range of price ranges.
4Moms Origami Stroller
4Moms is a company created by a team of moms (5 moms actually but apparently 4 sounds better than 5) so they understand the type of products that moms need. Their new Origami stroller, available fall 2009, is like something out of a sci-fi movie. It folds with the touch of a button, which is going to make wrestling with a stroller in busy parking lots a thing of the past. The Origami powers the folding mechanism by charging as the wheels turn. What makes this stroller really stand out to me (because let’s face it, there are a lot of really easy to fold strollers out there) is that the fact that not only does the stroller have power to fold but the battery can actually be used to charge your cell phone or mp3 player. Crazy stuff. The LCD screen on the stroller tells you whether or not the child is in the stroller, how far you have walked, what the temperature is outside and more.
New Pediped Styles
Pediped shoes have long been a favorite in our house but the 2010 Spring/Summer line has taken things a step further by including Memory Foam Technology (MFT) to give active kids an added layer of comfort. As always, Pediped’s new fashions have something for every occasion and give kids a stylish, but developmentally healthy option for growing feet. As the mother of three boys (very, very active boys) I was most impressed by Pediped’s new DRYZ technology. They have created a line of shoes that really have everything a mom could ask for. Not only does the new Pediped athletic line include all the features that make Pediped great but the DRYZ technology effectively manages moisture and odor control to help the shoes last longer and prevent any stinky surprises when kids take them off in a poorly ventilated area. The real kicker – several styles are fully machine washable. I may never let my boys wear another pair of shoes again.
Britax Parkway SG Booster
Britax has a great new product on the market that is unlike anything I have seen before. With many states requiring children to remain in booster seats until they are 8 years of age (can I just stop to cheer about that for a minute) many parents are looking for booster seat options for older children. The fact is though, booster seats are just not as safe as having a child in a 5 point harness, even for an older child. Britax has created a hybrid booster seat that allows children to have the feel of a booster seat but the safety of a 4 point harness. Yes, I said 4 point harness. The Parkway SG has a great design that allows the seatbelt to be fed through a clip between the child’s legs that turns a regular seatbelt into a 4 point harness.
GymBox
Red Mohican, a company that was founded by busy parents wanting to create products to help families on the go, has a great new product that I would have loved to have during my years as a daycare provider. The GymBox is designed to provide the same enrichment as the expensive mommy and me classes in a home environment. This all inclusive gym in a box is designed to provide infants and toddlers with developmentally appropriate large motor activities and can be used in a variety of different ways depending on the developmental needs of the child. The creators commented that the GymBox is so easy to put back into box form that their children can go through nearly the entire process of putting it away without adult help.
Dippy Cups
Dippy Cups were created by a mom with a son who loves to dip his food in sauces. This Momtrepreneur, who already worked in the silicone industry, created dip-sized silicone cups that are perfect for dip crazy kids. The silicone prevents the dippy cups from sliding on plates or tables. These cute little cups make it easy for kids to enjoy their favorite dip and it is so much cleaner than pouring some dip on a flat plate and having kids smear it all over the plate (and everything else).
I was so impressed by the quality and innovation that many of the products had at the ABC Kids Expo. Busy Mommy is thrilled to be able to introduce so many of these products in more detail over the next few months. Keep an eye out for detailed reviews, product updates, and new product introductions on Busy Mommy.
