Letter K Kangaroo Pockets

This preschool alphabet activity will help preschoolers to recognize the sound that the letter K makes and identify objects that start with the letter K.

What You Need

A carpenter’s apron with lots of pockets
Items that begin with the letter K

What To Do

Put on a carpenter’s apron with lots of pockets. Tell the preschoolers that you need to fill your pockets with things that start with the letter K. Have each preschooler find something in the room that begins with the letter K. As they are searching. have them practice making the sound that the letter K makes to help them find some letter K objects.

When each preschooler has found something that begins with the letter K have them come back and sit in a circle. Have each preschooler come up one at a time and place their letter K item in one of the pockets on the carpenter’s apron. As they put the object in the pocket say the name of the object and then emphasize the sound the letter K makes at the beginning of the word.
