MFS Eyewear for Kids
My blue-eyed boys are very sensitive to bright light. Bright days (even in the winter) often come with a lot of whining if we need to go outside or go for a ride in the car. We’ve tried hats and a variety of kid’s sunglasses, all of which were accompanied by complaints that they were uncomfortable or kept falling off. I was thrilled when I discovered MFS Eyewear, a company that makes high quality sunglasses for kids with a comfortable neoprene band that holds the sunglasses in place without the painful squeezing that typically comes with traditional sunglasses.
Serious Sun Protection for Kids
Most parents religiously slather their kids in SPF 80 sun block to protect them from the sun’s harmful rays but many never consider protecting their child’s eyes from the sun. MFS eyewear provides kids, from babies on up, with UVA and UVB protection.
The MFS Eyewear site states:
“According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, until they’re about 10 years old children are at an increased risk for permanent retinal damage from sunlight. Exposure to UVA and UVB rays can lead to eye disease, such as macular degeneration, which scientists now believe is a leading cause of blindness in adults.”
Parents go to great lengths to protect their kids. Eye protection is often overlooked but really should be a top priority to prevent damage to their eyes later in life. I wear my sunglasses year round to protect my eyes from the sun. MFS eyewear helps me to protect my kids eyes year round as well.
Sunglasses Kids will Actually Wear
Because MFS sunglasses are so comfortable to wear and are able to stay on, kids wear them willingly. My 3 year old has complained about the sun being in his eyes every single time we get in the car. Every. Single. Time. Did I mention he doesn’t like the sun in his eyes? We’ve tried several pairs of sunglasses but each pair frustrates him more than the last. Either the sunglasses hurt his head, fall off when he moves, or let light in around the edges. MFS kid’s sunglasses are so stylish that I was really hoping he’d go for them, especially since we were all growing a little tired of being asked to move the sun so it stayed out of his eyes.
My son fell in love with MFS eyewear after wearing them for the first time. He loves the way they stay on even when he shakes his head (he’ll demonstrate that one for anyone who’s interested) and they are so comfortable that he’s even fallen asleep while wearing them in the car.
Kid-Proof Sunglasses
MFS sunglasses are made with shatterproof, impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses that can stand up to real kids and have wrap-around frames that minimize exposure to peripheral light. The band is adjustable to create a good fit for kids of all ages. One pair of MFS eyewear fit my 18 month old and my 6 year old comfortably. The adjustable band allows MFS eyewear to grow with your child, making them a great investment (especially considering their already low price).
MFS eyewear allows my light-sensitive kids to the serious business of being a kid without being blinded by the sunlight and creating possible long term damage to their eyes. I love knowing my kid’s eyes are protected and my kids love the comfortable neoprene band and the definite cool factor that comes with these glasses.
