Mom’s Night Out Ideas

Are you planning a Mom’s Night Out in the near future? Mom’s Night Out is the perfect way to connect with your mom friends while enjoying some time away from home. Dinner and a movie can be relaxing, but if you’re looking for something different, read on.

Paint Your Own Pottery

Paint Your Own Pottery studios are popping up in many cities. Not just for kids, these studios allow visitors to select from a variety of pottery pieces. They typically offer a wide selection of items from plates to piggy banks to light switch plates. Keep in mind that you will need to return to pick up your pottery after it has been fired.

Hit the Spa

Is there anything more relaxing than a pedicure? Find a salon or spa that has several pedicure chairs so everyone in the party can have their pedicures at the same time. You may want to call ahead to let them know you have a large party so they have enough staff on hand.

Take a Class

Keep an eye out for interesting classes that you can take with your mom friends. Wine stores may host wine tasting classes. Craft stores may host classes on cake decorating, flower arranging, or other craft projects. Cooking classes may be another option. Check with your local community center or school district to see if they have a community education program.

Browse a Book Store

When was the last time you went to a book store and browsed leisurely? If most of your trips to the bookstore involve stressful visits to the children’s section with your kids in tow, gather the girls and head to the nearest bookstore. You can stick together or break off in smaller groups depending on your interests. Sipping a cup of coffee and sharing your literary finds with your mom friends will be a relaxing way to spend a Mom’s Night Out.

See a Play

Many cities regularly offer plays, musicals, and other theatrical performances. A little research may reveal some community theaters that also offer interesting productions.

Visit a Winery

Many wineries host special concerts or events. Tours and wine tastings are also available at most wineries. Make sure you have transportation arrangements in case there is a lot of wine consumption!

Go Shopping

Did your last trip to the mall involve whining children dangling from your legs? Do you generally dart in and out as fast as possible to avoid meltdowns? Plan an evening at the mall with your mom friends for some leisurely window shopping. Even if your budget doesn’t allow any purchases, window shopping can be just as fun when surrounded by your friends.
