Preschool Art – Palm Trees

palmpaint2

These Palm Trees use more than your palm. This preschool art activity gets preschoolers painting with their hands and arms! This is a great add on activity to go with the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom but it can also be used on its own.

What You Need

Green and Brown Paint
Paper Plates
Paint Brushes
Paper
Brown Paper
Alphabet stickers
Glue

Adult Preparation

palmpaintCut out small brown circles from construction paper. Preschoolers will use these as coconuts to put on their palm tree. Fill paper plates with green and brown paint.
What to DoPalm Tree

Preschoolers will need help for the first step of this art project. Have each preschooler hold their hand palm side up and spread their fingers out. Using a paintbrush, paint the palm and fingers of each preschooler green and the underside of the wrist brown. Slowly help the preschoolers stamp their arm onto their paper to make a tree shape.

When the paint is dry, have preschoolers glue the small brown coconuts to their tree. Use alphabet stickers to place one letter in each of the coconuts.

Variation

These fabulous literature art projects can be used on a bulletin board in your preschool classroom. They can be displayed with the title “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! There’s always enough room!”
