My 5 year old is enjoying a much more sophisticated sense of style since beginning kindergarten and much to my relief has decided to give up the tacky character shoes he has insisted on wearing since he learned to walk. After seeing Eleven’s great fall shoe collection, I was thrilled to try a pair and introduce my son to a more school-friendly fashion statement. Since, like most 5 year olds, he is much more excited about things that he can control, I let him pick which pair of Eleven shoes he wanted to try. I love the classic style of the Luc boots for my 5 year old, it was love at first sight when he saw the Eleven Kai.

I’m fairly traditional, so at first I was hesitant about a pair of red shoes but my 5 year old would settle for nothing else. He went to school and told all of his friends that he was getting a pair of the coolest red shoes ever and when they arrived, the high quality and unique style quickly won me over. While cute in the pictures, seeing the Kai in person is no comparison. These shoes are built to last through several kids, which with three boys in the family is always an important factor. The smart design gives them the appearance of lace up shoes but the stretchy top and Velcro closure make them nearly as easy to get on as a slip-on shoe.

Durable Style

The leather upper of this shoe looks great but after several trips to the playground I was sure that they would be scratched. I was pleasantly surprised that after putting up with all the abuse a 5 year old boy can throw at them, they still look brand new. These shoes look great with casual clothes and formal clothes. Surprisingly, the red is actually fairly neutral, which is a good thing since my son refuses to wear any other pair of shoes since they showed up.
