Fisher Price Trio (Giveaway Closed)

Congratulations to Christine! Christine is the winner of the Fisher Price Trio Giveaway!

trioFisher Price has a great new building toy with blocks in the style of the classic linking cubes. The new Trio Building system, with it’s brightly colored blocks, easy snapping system that make a clear snapping noise so you know they are connected, and fun accessories is sure to be a hit for preschoolers on up.

My kids love building toys so even though we have boxes and boxes of various types of blocks and building materials, they just can’t get enough of them. Electronic toys may be more seductive in their attention grabbing techniques, but building toys are the ones that my kids go back to over and over again.

Creative Building Options

The new Fisher Price Trio Building set reminds me of the classic linking cubes that we love, both for building and for practicing math skills. I love the simple design of the Trio blocks (although I do wish they had the ability to link together from the side rather than just the top and the bottom) and the bright colors. The Trio blocks click together easily and make an audible clicking noise as the blocks snap together so kids have direct feedback as they build.Stick pieces can be used to connect the blocks from the sides and create more elaborate buildings. I love anything that multi-tasks and the top of the storage container can be incorporated into play and used as a platform that the blocks can snap onto.

The accessories add a fun dimension to the Trio set and allow them to be used for pretend play activities as well. The basic building set with storage (which is designed for kids ages 3-5) comes with a cute car and a person, which my boys loved. The wheels of the car can snap on and off and although the car itself cannot be changed very much it is fun for kids to practice taking it apart and putting it back together.

Building Toys That Grow Up

kingscastleThe basic set makes a wonderful small motor activity and pretend play toy for preschoolers but one of the things I love about the Trio set is that it is not limited to younger kids. Older kids will enjoy the set just as much as their younger siblings because not only can they use the blocks and sticks to build more complicated structures but the Trio line includes several playsets that older children will enjoy such as the King’s Castle or the Wizard’s Castle.

The Fisher Price Trio line would make a wonderful Christmas gift for any child on your list and is one that is sure to be enjoyed for many years to come.
