Major Changes to Swagbucks (and a Swag Code)

If you’ve been around Busy Mommy Media for any length of time, you know that I love Swagbucks. Swagbucks is a really easy way to earn prizes, including amazon gift cards which is my prize of choice, by simply using their search engine (which receives google search results anyway). In the past, I’ve used my Swagbucks gift cards to pay for birthday presents and Christmas gifts. Now it just supports my growing Kindle habit.

Today, Swagbucks is celebrating their 2nd birthday and as part of their birthday celebration, they are unveiling some pretty major changes with the launch of Swagbucks 3.0. If you visit the Swagbucks homepage, the first thing you’ll notice is the streamlined new logo. The swagbucks point system have undergone some changes as well. All the points are being multiplied by 10 (including the points needed for the prizes). If you had 45 points before today, you’ll now have 450 points (before you get too excited though, the prizes will all be multiplied by 10 too). No prices are being raised. Everything is just being adjusted proportionally. What this will do is allow additional ways to earn Swagbucks such as logging into the Swagbucks toolbar or viewing special offers.

So far, I really like the new interface. It makes all my swagbucks easy to see in a quick glance, including referrals which used to be tucked away on another page. The new point system is going to take some getting used to but I’m excited to find out about all the new ways to earn Swagbucks that are in the works.

Extra Swagbucks for New Members

If you have not joined Swagbucks yet, now is a great chance to do it. What I like about Swagbucks is that I don’t have to do anything I wouldn’t normally be doing. I have set Swagbucks as my homepage so whenever I need to search for anything I just do it through the Swagbucks search engine. I get the same search results I would get through google but I earn Swagbucks that I can use for Amazon gift cards (which really is a great way to save money on gifts throughout the year when I’m not spending all my gift cards on books for my Kindle).

To sign up, go to Swagbucks and create a new account. New members get a special gift for the Swagbucks birthday celebration. Use the code BUSYMOMMY1 and you’ll be given an extra 60 Swagbucks. This code is good from February 25 – March 4 2010.

If you are already a member of Swagbucks, you can still enjoy the celebration because today there will be a lot of Swag code giveaways on the Swagbucks blog, Twitter page, and Facebook page.
