It’s been so much fun to watch my kids see our caterpillars from the Insect Lore Butterfly Garden Kit grow. They are amazed at the speed that they grow and my 6 year old, who is after all, an expert in all things bug, has enjoyed filling his younger siblings in on the magical transformation these caterpillars are going to go through over the next few weeks.
We’re going to take a trip to the library over the next few days to hunt down some great books on bugs and butterflies. My kids love coming home with a huge stack of books to learn about a topic they are interested in and it’s so much fun to have our caterpillars as an educational tool as they learn.
Our caterpillar friends are practicing for the big day when they form cocoons (and my kids are anxiously checking the cups every few hours). We’ve seen them one by one, crawl to the top of the cup and hang upside down, with their little heads dangling, for several hours at a time.
