Tree Top Challenge

I still remember the first time I tried Tree Top apple juice, no joke. My friend had some at her house and after growing up with highly sugared juices it was like heaven. I couldn’t believe how wonderful the natural sweetness of the apple tasted. I still remember how the two of us sat and drank our way through half a case of apple juice because we were so amazed by how different it tasted from most “juice”. We actually don’t buy juice often but when we do, we try for juice that is actually made up of, well, juice.

While my family does try and eat healthy, treats are an essential part of summer time. So when I was sent a package of products from Tree Top with the challenge to try something new with them, the first thing that popped into our heads was popsicles. My kids have been bugging me to buy a popsicle mold forever so I finally found on in the dollar section of Target and decided to make their day. We took one tiny bottle of Tree Top and made 8 popsicles with it and despite the fact that we have far too many treats in our freezer for my waistline, my kids keep going back for the apple juice popsicles.

Our next challenge is applesauce. I’ve never been very successful at replacing oil in cookies with applesauce but I’d love to find a recipe that works. Hey, if it cuts the calories down a bit I can add more chocolate chips right?

Do you have a great cookie recipe that uses applesauce? I’d love to have you share it with us in the comments.

If you have a really great recipe, be sure and check out the Tree Top 50th anniversary America’s Secret Ingredient contest. I’m excited to see some of the great recipes that come out of that.
