Why You Should Always Have a Backup
There’s nothing like some major computer problems to give you a complete mental breakdown. Late last week the motherboard in my computer went bad. This wouldn’t be such a huge deal except for (a.) this was the third motherboard I’ve had go out in a year (thank you Sony) and (b.) for some reason when the motherboard failed, it decided to delete all my emails and half my files. Fortunately I had a backup of all my photos, which are ultimately the only thing on my computer that are completely irreplaceable, but my emails are gone. Truthfully, I’ve never really felt a need to back up my emails before but I’m definitely doing it in the future. I do have the last few weeks of emails that were still on the server but I’m discovering just how difficult it is to work without any of your contacts and email history.
My husband tried to switch me to a Mac since I’ve managed to kill just about every PC I’ve ever owned, but it turns out I’m not big on change so after fighting with the Mac all weekend and trying really hard to get it to act like a PC, we’re heading back to the store to switch out for a PC so I can actually get some work done. Sony, I’ve loved you, but I’m not sure I trust you with my files after the 3rd failure.
In the meantime, I’m trying to get caught up. I’m slowly drawing winners for the Spring into Summer giveaways and we have some great giveaways coming up which will be a great way to celebrate as soon as I’m fully back online. If you emailed me and I haven’t emailed you back – your email is probably gone – go ahead and email me again.
You’ve probably noticed we have some great new articles from Linda, the new cooking editor. Definitely check out her articles while you’re waiting for me to get my act together.
