Does it tell you anything about my week that I didn’t realize it was Friday until several hours after I woke up this morning? We were up late last night searching for updates on the Crown Fire in L.A. which got within a 1/3 mile of my inlaws house. That was a crazy end to a day that started out pretty crazy by itself since I decided at the last minute to attend BlogHer. Now most normal people plan for most of the year for this. I have 7 days to put everything together so we’ll see how that goes for me.

With BlogHer on the brain I’ve been scouring the internet for information that would help out a first time blog conference attendee. A lot of these posts have not been written within the past week but they are still a great read.

2010 Blogher Conference FAQ: NYC Edition – This post gave me a good laugh as Mom-101 wrote about what you should and shouldn’t do in New York City during BlogHer. I was in New York for Toy Fair in February but I took my husband with me to navigate so I’m looking for any tips I can find (seriously, I can get lost in my front yard). I especially enjoyed her comparison between a popular person and a popular blogger. Good read.

Socially Awkward Like Me: The Quirky Parents of Children With Autism – As the mother of a child with autism, Shannon Des Roches Rosa often sees similarities between the things her son does and her own tendencies. My own son has aspergers and I often wonder if my quirks mimic some of his. As Shannon prepares to attend BlogHer she warns that as excited as she is to meet everyone, she may be a bit overwhelmed. I may have to track Shannon down during the conference. I’d love to sit with someone who is as rattled by loud parties as I am.

Things to do in New York for 2010 BlogHer – When I was in New York for Toy Fair in Feb. we didn’t have a lot of extra time to explore the city. We did manage to get tickets to Wicked. Of course then we got confused about what time the show started and showed up an hour late. At least it gave us something to laugh about. This time I don’t expect to have much more time to explore but I love seeing what the options are.

The Insecure Woman’s Guide to BlogHer – This one is just a funny read but it also has some great advice. As bloggers, a lot of us are more comfortable at home than we are in a huge crowd. I’m not shy but I’m fairly easily intimidated so this post gave me a great chance to laugh at myself.

The Top 5 WordPress Plugins for Mom Bloggers – It’s funny what you can find while blog hopping. Dear Chrissy has some great plugin recommendations for mom bloggers including one that I’m testing out myself. I’ve been looking for a great plugin to make drawing a blog giveaway winner easier since before I was born for a really long time and was thrilled to see something that was exactly what I was looking for on Chrissy’s list. Where have you been all my life?
