Britax B-Ready Stroller Review

As the mother of 3 active boys, I’m at bit embarrassed to admit how many strollers are in my garage. I have a double stroller for the times we’re walking long distances, a single umbrella for times when I need to keep a small, lightweight stroller in the trunk of my car, and a full sized stroller for times when I need the extra storage space.

The problem is, no one stroller met all of our needs – until now. Britax has released the B-Ready, an amazingly adaptive modular stroller that can carry parents through all the stages of childhood without the need to buy a second stroller.

B-Ready Adaptability

The Britax B-Ready has the same great quality that you expect from Britax, but what really makes it stand out is it’s ability to adapt to any situation. The B-Ready can be used in over 14 different configurations that include an infant seat, a bassinet, and a standard seat.

I wish the B-ready had been around when I had my first baby because it would have saved me the money and hassle of buying multiple strollers as our stroller needs changed. You can realistically get away with buying the B-Ready for your first baby and keeping it until you no longer need a stroller.

B-Ready Maneuverability

When it comes to finding the perfect stroller, maneuverability is a big issue for me. Running around with kids is complicated enough without wrestling with an awkward stroller as well. As a single stroller, the B-Ready is amazing. You can feel the quality of the stroller as you push it and the sturdy build is strong enough to outlast your children’s need for a stroller. Where the B-Ready really excels though, is as a double stroller. The B-Ready is extremely smooth, even in doubles mode, and can easily be pushed with one hand. I’ve seen very few double strollers that can realistically be maneuvered with one hand and the streamlined design gives the B-Ready the same footprint in doubles mode as it has as a single stroller, which means you won’t have any run ins with doorways that aren’t big enough for you to fit through.

The B-Ready as a Twin Stroller

I’ve talked with several parents of multiples and one of the things they all agree on is that it can be nearly impossible to find the perfect stroller for infant twins. Most strollers don’t accommodate 2 newborns well and the ones that do are so bulky that you can’t maneuver them well (or you need a truck just to lug the thing around).

The Britax B-Ready will hold 2 infant carseats while maintaining the maneuverability of a single stroller. Not only that but you can position the infant carseats forward facing or rear facing or any combination of the two. Amazing!

The B-Ready as a Double Stroller

Even if you don’t have twins, many parents of more than one child find that they need a double stroller at some point in their parenting career. I managed to get by until the birth of my 3rd child before I really felt the need for a double stroller but my search for a double stroller was epic. I think it took me 6 months to find something that worked for me and after all that work, my kids more or less outgrew the need for the stroller in less than a year. With the B-Ready, you can simply add the second seat (sold separately) when you need a double stroller (which is much cheaper than buying a second stroller and definitely simplifies the storage situation) and when you no longer need a double stroller simply remove the second seat and go back to using the B-Ready in it’s single stroller configuration.

Putting the B-Ready to the Test

Strollers take a beating around our house so my kids are the perfect testers to determine how sturdy a stroller is. I was able to fit my 4 1/2 year old and almost 3 year old in the B-Ready without a problem. My almost 3 year old had plenty of room in the lower seat. I was initially a bit concerned that he wouldn’t like being down below but he thought it was great and his visibility was still fairly good. We took the B-Ready to the zoo first and he was still able to see most of the exhibits without getting out of the stroller if he didn’t want to. I did have to warn him not to put his fingers in the wheel the first few times he rode in the lower seat, but this is the same kid who sticks his fingers in fences as I push the stroller past him so I think that was pretty much a given.

My 2 year old is a bit old to need to be facing me in a stroller but he was so amused with the change of scenery that he opted to ride rear facing for a while. It’s funny how changing the direction of the seat actually gives the stroller a slightly different feel. I actually really liked the way the stroller pushed in single mode with the seat rear facing.

Both my 4 year old and 2 year old were comfortable in the B-Ready when it was configured as a single stroller. The seat is a bit on the narrow side but it still gave plenty of wiggle room even for my 4 1/2 year old. Both of my kids had plenty of head room under the sun shade. Parents of younger kids will LOVE the peek through window. It has a magnetic closure so you won’t have to worry about waking a sleeping baby with the sound of velcro.

Our second test ride was to Disneyland and both my kids fell asleep in the B-Ready by the end of the day, which is a sure sign of a well designed stroller considering my kids are both well past the point where they fall asleep outside of their bed. The B-Ready has the same great breaking system that we saw on the Britax Chaperone. A quick press of the brake and green indicator turns to red to let you know that the brake is on.

You can see the handy storage attachment that you can use with the stroller in singles mode. I do miss that great little snack tray that was on the handle bars of the Britax Chaperone because it was great for small items like your keys or cell phone and the storage pouch on the B-Ready can only be used in singles mode but the basket on the B-Ready is big enough for just about anything you’d want to carry with you.

The handle bar on the B-Ready is adjustable so it’s comfortable no matter what the height of the person pushing it.

  28. I love the versatility of it. Now I need a double, but soon my oldest will be too big and we will be going back to a single. Right now I carry three- yes three strollers in my car, a double, a full size single, and an umbrella – with two more in my garage. I would love to streamline this process – and lighten my load!

I am just 2 months away from having our second child, and we are looking for a double stroller to accomodate a newborn and a 17 month old. I just found it! It’s much smaller than the traditional double stroller, which I love! Looks like the perfect stroller for our growing family!
