I envy the guy that shaves once a week.  I am not that guy.  I have a 5 o’clock shadow by noon.  It is a blessing for those occasional roles as a mountain man at Halloween but unless I stay on top of it, my wife won’t kiss me.  Over the years she has bought me numerous ways to tackle this issue.  I gave up the electric razor because I never found one that could shave close enough.  I then moved away from the bathroom sink and into the shower.  It just never made sense to me to wash my face a second time after getting out of the shower to wash away the shaving cream.

The constant challenge with shaving in the shower is being able to see where I am putting the razor.  Given the forest I have on my face, it is immediately visible if I miss a spot.  My wife has bought me numerous “no fog” mirrors over the years.  Some of them work at first but over time they simply fog up and never work again.

That is precisely why I was excited when I saw on the Toiletree Fogless Shower Mirror the big bold letters “MIRROR WILL NEVER FAIL!”  Its concept is that it has an innovative water tank behind the mirror.  By filling it with shower water, it makes the mirror the about the same temperature as the steam.

But does it work?

To find out I had to first install it on the shower wall.  Given that it holds 16oz of water in its tank, it is a lot heavier than most mirrors.  Your basic suction cups just aren’t strong enough and since I have had several suction cup models fall off the wall anyway, I welcomed a different solution that Toiletree came up with.  It uses both double stick tape and silicone adhesive.  This does make it somewhat more permanent eliminating my capability to throw it in my suitcase for hotel use but it should stand up to Southern California earthquakes.  Toiletree claims that it is still removable without permanent damage; it just takes a bit more than a suction cup.

Once it was installed, I filled it full of hot shower water and went to work shaving.  I am proud to announce that it not only worked as promised but it has kept working in the months since.  As long as you remember to add the hot shower water, it never steams up.  I am a very satisfied customer and would recommend this product for anybody that wants to shave in the shower.

Now I just need them to make a travel version.
