Giveaway: Alphabet Bean Bags from Educational Insights

Alphabet Bean Bags

It’s been interesting to me to realize how different each of my kids are. While my oldest was perfectly content to sit and practice his letters by using worksheets or flashcards, my two younger kids are much more active and need a more hands-on approach. My 4 year old is dying to learn to read now that my 6 year old has really picked it up, but he just doesn’t have the attention span to sit and practice phonics without wiggling around.

The Alphabet Bean Bags from Educational Insights are perfect for teaching busy kids because they allows us to incorporate phonics and language activities into our active play. For an active little boy, that’s the perfect solution!

The Alphabet Bean Bag set comes with a drawstring bag to keep everything in one place and a full set of soft, felt bean bags, each with one letter of the alphabet on them — capital letters on one side and lower case on the other. I love that the vowels are a different color than the consonants so that you can work on more advanced language skills as your kids learn. Educational Insights has really thought of everything!

The set includes some easy game ideas (or you can get creative and come up with a few of your own). Our current favorite is the “toss and say” game. The directions have you give each child a pile of bean bags and stand several feet away from each other. As they throw one bean bag to each other at a time they are supposed to identify the letter. We started by identifying the letters and now we’ve moved onto identifying letter sounds.

My 6 year old loves to turn the Alphabet Bean Bags into a puzzle. He has us throw him 3 or 4 letters and then he has to put them in the correct order to create a word. For a new reader, it’s just challenging enough to hold his attention and really let him feel proud when he is successful.

Educational Insights makes several sets of educational bean bags, including, phonics bean bags, Teachable Touchables, numbers, the alphabet, and shapes so they are perfect for whatever skill your child is working on.
