Before all parties were “pinable” and all entertainment had to be electronic, there was old school summer fun. And guess what . . . it was way more exciting that sitting in front of the T.V. all day.
In an effort to make better use of our time, we’re ditching the T.V. and video games this summer and focusing on things that are a bit more low tech. Great entertainment doesn’t have to be complicated or cost a lot of money. Some of my favorite things to do as a child didn’t cost a thing!
With a new baby in the house, we’re getting a slow start to our summer fun, but so far my kids are having a blast discovering new entertainment options that they are sure no one else has ever tried before like camping in the backyard or burning leaves with a magnifying glass.
It’s been a blast to watch how excited my kids get at the simplest activities. Who would have guessed the backyard could rival the latest video game?
We started off with a summer classic — the backyard buzz cut. I can’t seem to master cutting my kids’ hair but I can do a buzz cut. It keeps my kids cool and saves some money in the process. Win – win.
