Giveaway: Hallmark Back to School Prize Pack

Hallmark Logo

School is in full swing around our house and I’m not ashamed to admit that the chance to start fresh every new school year makes me giddy. Nothing refreshes my enthusiasm like a fresh start.

Hallmark introduced me to their line of Kids Encouragement Cards when I attended EVO earlier this summer and they were so great I just had to share them with you.

I’ve never been one of those moms who is great at leaving notes on bathroom mirrors or in lunch boxes for my kids to see. I tend to just assume my kids know I care about them. Now that my oldest is 9 years old though, I’m remembering how stressful and awkward it was being a tween and I’ve been making more of an effort to let him know how awesome I think he is, because I can’t just assume he already knows how I feel. Younger kids get plenty of hugs and kisses but it’s easier to forget that kids need just as much affection and encouragement as they get older.

Halmark’s Kids Encouragement Cards are a great way to celebrate the everyday milestones and take the chance to tell your kids how you feel and open up the lines of communication. It’s actually one of my biggest fears as a parent that my kids aren’t going to want to open up to me as they get older. The teen years used to seem so far off but they are looming closer all the time and I know that if I can’t keep my kids comfortable opening up to me now, there’s no way they’ll open up to me as teens.

Check out this cute example of one of Hallmark’s Kids Encouragement Cards:

What a fun way to help kids deal with some of the challenges life is going to throw at them! This seems like the perfect chance to impart some parental wisdom (or at least pretend like we have some) without nagging.

Communication can be a challenge among friends too, especially at the beginning of a school year when everyone still feels a bit awkward. My kids got to try out the new Hallmark Text Bands and they’ve had a blast with them. You can program your Text Band with a short message and when you bump someone else wearing a Text Band your message will show up on their Text Band and their message will show up on yours.
