Review: Zen Swaddle

Zen Swaddle There are some products that you just kick yourself for not discovering earlier. The Zen Swaddle is right at the top of my list at the moment.

I’ve mentioned that I’m not getting much sleep these days. I know it’s expected with a newborn but it’s been nearly 5 years since I’ve had a newborn and you forget what it’s like to function on no sleep.

Our last baby passed away and I joked that I was never going to put this baby down. No worries there because she won’t let us put her down. She’s a cuddler. And I won’t complain about that . . . except that it means I don’t get any sleep and the sleep I do get is with her in my bed.

I’ve coslept to some degree with all my kids but I never set out to cosleep full-time. I went nuts researching mattresses during my pregnancy and this little girl has never spent more than an hour at a time sleeping in her crib. While there is something nice about waking up with a baby snuggled next to you, I don’t sleep very deeply when I’m cosleeping and the sleep deprivation is starting to get to me.

To date, the longest stretch I’ve slept at night with baby in her crib is 2 hours so while I thought the Zen Swaddle was cool, I honestly didn’t think my sleep was going to improve much at this point.

I just have a baby who won’t sleep.

But, the Zen Swaddle is soft and comfy looking so when they found out I wasn’t sleeping much and contacted me I figured I’d give it a try. I put baby in it last night and crossed my fingers.

She slept for 7 hours straight.

Seriously.

I suspect she would have gone longer except for the fact that when my 4 year old woke me up in the morning I had to check to see if she was breathing.

I still thought it was a fluke. Then she slept through the night on the second night as well.

The Zen Swaddle is magic I tell you. Magic.

She woke up to eat and is now fully back to sleep IN HER CRIB while I work. You may start seeing more posts around here after all.

If you have a newborn, you NEED this.

How Does the Zen Swaddle Work

Zen Swaddle

The Zen Swaddle has three, well-placed bean bags that make an infant feel like she is being held. The fabric is buttery soft and stretchy, which makes it so easy to wrap around baby. You don’t have to fiddle with any sort of snaps or zippers because the Zen Swaddle has a simple hook and loop closure that allows you to get a snug fit around your baby.

My only complain about the Zen Swaddle is I want to see a bigger size. It’s designed to be used with babies who are 7-14 pounds and at 13 pounds my baby is at the top of the range. I really like sleeping again but I’m dreading the thought that when she outgrows the Zen Swaddle she will go back to her old nighttime habits.

Swaddle and hold them or rock them to sleep!

  4. I wish I knew about this 2 years ago, we had the same problem with my little guy, it was not until he was almost 6 months old before he would even sleep in his crib at all.
