All kids deserve access to great medical and dental care. What would you say if I told you that, despite improvements in the coverage of children’s dental care under the Affordable Care Act, that tooth decay is still the number one chronic infectious disease among children in the U.S.
I know I was shocked when I heard that.
As many as 42% of children ages 2-11 (and almost 50% of minority/underserved/Medicaid recipients) are living with untreated cavities.
We all know how huge of an impact our dental health can have on our overall health. As a mom, I make sure that dental visits for my kids are right up their with regular doctor’s checkups because I understand how important they are. It’s so hard to think that there are kids out there who do not have access to the care that they need.
