Bra shopping during pregnancy is one of my least favorite things. Comfort is a huge issue but it’s hard to find a great fit when your size and shape seems to change on a daily basis. I’m especially torn during pregnancy because I know I’m going to change size again when I start nursing so I hate to spend a ton of money on bras only to pack them away and buy nursing bras after the baby is born.

They are have a great variety of bras, many of which are designed to fit multiple cup sizes which is perfect during pregnancy.

Sizing is always an issue while bra shopping. The right fit can make all the difference in the world. I splurged a while bag and went in for a full bra fitting and bought some bras that were the perfect fit for me. I couldn’t believe the difference it made. I spent more than I was used to spending on bras but when you consider the fact that you wear your bra every single day, the extra cost was worth it.

Leading Lady has a great bra fit tool to help you find your perfect fit. A few quick measurements will help you get the perfect bra fit just by plugging in your information to the bra fit calculator. It doesn’t get much easier than that and Leading Lady’s prices are well below what you’d pay to get a custom fit in a department store, which is always a nice perk.

Since I’m moving into the nursing stage soon (can anyone make the weeks go by just a bit faster for me . . . ) I tried out the Molded Seamless Underwire Nursing Bra. I like a bra to have at least a bit of padding, especially while nursing because I hate it when you can see the outline of nursing pads under my shirt, so this bra offers a nice, seamless look without going over the top. The clasp is very doable with one hand — kind of essential when holding a squirmy baby.

Everything from the fabric quality to the clasps has a higher end feel to it and the bra seems like it will last for quite a while. Nursing bras take a beating since they need to be washed so frequently and I’ve had some bras fall apart after only a few weeks. Giveaway: Baby K’Tan Baby Carrier

I’ve mentioned before that I’m slightly obsessed with baby carriers. I may not have a crib mattress ready for this baby yet but I have a huge stash of carriers that will be getting plenty of use soon. . . especially since this baby seems to be wanting to make her appearance a bit early. I’m fairly new to wraps and while I’m getting more comfortable with them, there’s still a learning curve.

The Baby K’Tan baby wrap is a great baby carrier with an innovative double loop design that makes it super easy to use, even if you are a bit intimidated by traditional wraps. It is made up of two pieces: the double loop piece that easily goes on in just a few steps and a second band that provides extra security in some carrying positions.

I love how simple the whole thing is to put on. There’s a a very easy learning curve and it’s easy to put the wrap on with minimal twisting – which can be hard to accomplish if you are new to using traditional wraps. With several different wearing options, the Baby K’Tan can be used for babies from 8 pounds all the way up to 35 pounds.

The Baby K’Tan is a sized carrier, which allows for a better fit but does make it a bit trickier for both parents to use. I love how easy it is to adjust the carrier to get a comfortable fit. You can spread the shoulders out nice and wide

The Baby K’Tan has no hard buckles to irritate baby or wear out and break. The simple design also makes the carrier extremely easy to care for since you can throw the whole thing in the washer AND the dryer.

I’ve gone through several baby carriers that look great before I use them with a real live baby with real live bodily fluids and after the hassle of one wash there have been several that are simply not worth the effort involved. The ability to throw the Baby K’Tan right in the washing machine is a huge time saver and makes this a baby carrier that will actually get used on a regular basis.

A few weeks ago I shared a sweet memory I have of my oldest son after the death of my 4th child. I’m able to look at that moment now and see it for the sweet time that it was. 3 Years later, I’m just weeks away from having another baby and this time I’m looking forward to a very different experience.

Moments like that are things to treasure and I love to take the time to remember some of the sweet things in life, especially during times when things may be a bit overwhelming. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am that it is May. Not only is the warm weather likely here to stay, but that means I’m that much closer to NOT being pregnant anymore. While I’m working on trying to enjoy the third trimester, I have to admit that most days it’s a struggle.

With summer sneaking up on us, many of you are probably panicking at the thought of long summer days with bored kids and the possibility that your kids will forget everything they learned during the school year.

In our house, we’re hoping to ban the brainless video games and TV as much as possible this summer, but I am huge fan of using technology to help my kids learn. I have all boys and they tend to need an added incentive to focus from time to time. When I find that they are losing interest in a subject, especially during the summer months when learning is a bit more relaxed, I have no problem pulling out the gadgets to get them going again.

We’re already big fans of Lakeshore Learning products around here. I fell in love with them during my years as a home daycare provider and now as a homeschooling mom they are essential. Lakeshore has some great new software programs that help kids practice important skills from phonics to science facts and they are perfect for keeping up essential skills during the summer months.

Phonemic Awareness Interactive Game

For preschoolers, phonemic awareness is one of the most important skills they can learn. My 4 year old is falling victim to the most productive kind of peer pressure and he’s dying to learn to read like his brothers. I can work with that.

Most computer games are frustrating to him. He’s a pro on the iPad with the touch screen but he’s still learning how to use a touchpad. I was really pleased with how simple it was for him to navigate the game and he was thrilled that he could do it all on is own.

The Phonemic Awareness Interactive Game has 3 separate games that kids can play: Rhyming, Syllable Sorting, and Beginning Sounds. It only took a few sessions before my 4 year old had syllables down and with a bit of individual reading time on top of his game playing time, he’s made huge progress in his early reading skills just in the last few weeks.

Beginning Operations Adventures Interactive Activities

The Beginning Operations Adventures Game is a great way to introduce kids to simple addition and subtraction.

This program has 4 games to choose from: Apple Orchard Addition, Lemonade Stand Subtraction (my kids’ favorite), Drive-Through Diner Addition, and Cookie Muncher Subtraction.

Each activity is very visual, making it perfect for kids working on very beginning addition and subtraction. Even though addition and subtraction facts go up to 12, the visual component made it a bit too easy for my 6 year old to cheat by counting the visual cues but it was perfect for my 4 year old who is just learning the basics.

The Allowance Game® Interactive Software

By far one of my favorite Lakeshore Learning interactive games is The Allowance Game. This game makes learning to count money exciting for kids because it has a role playing component that they love. You can play this game with up to 4 players. The goal of the game is to save $20 first. As each player goes around the board they land on squares that determine whether they spent money or earned money.

As they spend or earn money, each player has to count out the value that they need to pay or add to their piggy bank. If they need to make change, they have to choose the bill or coin that they want to make change for.

This game was perfect for my 6 year old who is mastering counting money and my 4 year old, even though he needed a bit of help along the way, loved participating. I had to supervise this a bit just because my kids got so into it that we had some heated conversations when one discovered that they were spending too much money and wouldn’t earn $20 first. I’ve seen huge progress in my 6 year old’s money counting skills and my 4 year old’s coin recognition as a result of this game and I’m sure it’s going to get plenty of use over the summer.

Science Quiz Game Show

Kids love having a stash of interesting facts in their heads but straight memorization can be a real drag. Lakeshore Learning’s new Science Quiz Game Show is an exciting way to practice science facts that kids have learned throughout the school year.

With two versions, one for grades 1-3 and one for grades 4-6, you can choose the game that best fits your child’s skill level. My 8 year old loved showing off to his younger brothers and the game show format really appealed to him.

The quality of the questions was great. They focused on fairly detailed science facts that kids often don’t learn in most public school settings so it’s a great way to supplement your child’s education.

Language Adventures Quiz Game Show

Just like the Science Quiz Game Show, the Language Adventures Quiz Game Show software reviews language arts essentials in a format that gets kids fully engaged. Again, with versions for grades 1-3 or 4-6, you can choose whichever level best fits your child’s skill.

Language Arts is not my 8 year old’s favorite subject but he’s all over anything that uses technology so this was a great way to get him to review some of the basics.

We homeschool but with standardized testing coming up for the end of the school year, this has been a great tool to help him review some of what he’s done throughout the year.

I’m kind of in shock that we are almost through April already. Since I’m due with my 5th baby in June, the days seem to be creeping by but somehow time is still flying.

The spring weather we’re having is making things a bit better though. It’s much easier to focus on the moment when you are enjoying nice weather.

Pregnancy is fresh on my mind these days considering I’m expecting a baby in early June. It’s been a while since we’ve had a newborn in the house so it feels a bit like starting from scratch.
