Easy DIY Lego Table
Do your kids love building with Lego bricks? It’s one of my kids’ favorite things to do. I was tired of finding Lego bricks all over the floor so we put together this easy DIY Lego Table that is perfect for individual play. It even has Lego storage build right in!
Lego tables can be pricey and most of them take up quite a bit of space. We wanted a Lego table that was small enough my kids could move it around the house and we were looking for a way to store Lego bricks so I wouldn’t find them all over the house.
This easy DIY Lego Table is so simple to make and my kids love it. This would make a fantastic DIY Christmas gift or birthday gift and it was much more affordable than buying one. I actually liked the way this functions better than most of the store-bought Lego tables I’ve seen because it’s pretty compact and it’s the perfect hight for kids to play on.
DIY Lego Table Supplies
This is the simplest project. It only uses a handful of supplies and is so much cheaper than buying a pre-made Lego table.
-
Sterilite 20938003 Wide 3 Drawer Unit – Make sure you select the wide drawer unit designed to hold 12×12 paper. They come in a 3-pack which is perfect if you are making several for gifts. If not, the drawers are great for organizing things in your bathroom or office too.Â
-
Lego Building Plate – Be sure to get the 10×10 size. You can get the Lego brand of these or a cheaper compatible version that works just as well.
-
Hot Glue Gun – I’ve been using my little Black and Decker Glue Gun for over 20 years and it is still going strong.
- Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks – These are the best that I’ve found for gluing plastic.

DIY Lego Table Instructions
This Homemade Lego Table is so easy to make. It literally took us less than ten minutes from start to finish and my kids absolutely love it.
Heat your hot glue gun up. Use the high setting for the Gorilla Glue to get a really good seal.
We did a square around the edge of the Lego plate. We went about an inch in so the hot glue wouldn’t leak out the edge. Then we did a quick “X” in the center to make sure it had a good seal.
With hot glue, you have to move fast but the Gorilla Glue gives you a really great seal and you don’t have to worry about sticking your fingers together with super glue or other sealants . . . not that I’ve done that before.
When you’ve added to glue to the back of your baseplate, work quickly and flip the plate over.
Center it on the top of your Sterilite Unit. I just eyeballed it but you could measure before hand if you want.
Press firmly on the top to make sure all the glued areas make contact with the top of the plastic.
Fill the drawers with your Lego collection so it’s ready to go when your kids want to build. We separated the colors out but you can fill your Lego drawers any way you want.
This is seriously the easiest DIY Lego Table. If you want to make your own Lego Table, this is a great way to go. I already owned a Lego Baseplate so all I had to do was buy the drawer unit and I was ready to go. Even if I’d had to buy everything, it would have been way cheaper than buying a pre-made Lego Table.
My kids have absolutely loved this.
We made one for my daughter and my boys are each asking for one of their own too. This would make such a fantastic (and frugal) homemade Christmas gift or birthday present.
Don’t want to make your own Lego Table?
