Homemade Cranberry Apple Cider

This time of year, life always feels hectic to me. If seems like I’m constantly running from one thing to the next.

When life gets like that, you have to take time to slow down. This homemade cranberry apple cider is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the season . . . even when things are hectic.

Cranberry Apple Cider

I keep things as simple as I can. The rest of my life is busy enough, I don’t need to complicate things when I don’t have to.

My family loves making homemade cider in the fall. The part I don’t love — the cleanup.

This year we simplified things by using Dixie® To Go cups.

Dixie® To Go cups are leak-resistant with insulated layers to help you take your favorite fall drinks with you on the go.

The best part — no cleanup.

We have a birthday party in our future and homemade cider will be the star. Instead of dealing with a sink full of cups afterwards, I’m going to crush it as a party host and use Dixie® To Go cups.

With all that time saved, I’m going to relax with a cup of cider and pretend like I don’t have a million things on my to-do list.

Homemade Cranberry Apple Cider

Ingredients:

  • 2 quarts of Apple cider
  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Allspice
  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries

Preparation:

You can make this on your stove, in a crockpot, or in a pressure cooker. The amount of time you have available will probably make this choice for you.

Combine all the ingredients in your pot and mix well.

In a crockpot, cook for 2-3 hours.

In a pressure cooker, cook for 5 minutes.

On the stove, heat until it comes to a gentle boil then cook on low for 20-30 min.

The smell of this cooking is amazing! It’s perfect to make when you have guests come over for the holidays. You’ll know you are crushing it when the scent of this cider brings everyone into the kitchen.

We’ve been throwing together a batch before the kids get home from school each day so there’s something yummy ready for them at the end of the day.

Make it in the morning and throw it in a Dixie® To Go cup so you can enjoy it on the way to school.
