How to Simplify On-the-Go Snacking

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence-Central for Jif To Go Dippers. I received a sample to facilitate my review and a thank you item for participating.

on the go snacks

Snacktime is serious business around here. We don’t leave the house without a stash of snacks because I know my kids. They get grumpy when they are hungry and I with all the growth spurts we’ve been having lately, they are always hungry. With nursing twins right now, I’m not immune to being grumpy either so I definitely need my snacks too. We stay busy so we look for easy, on-the-go snack options to keep everyone happy.

How do you make snacking on the go easier?

Keep a snack stash in your car. We keep a plastic container filed with snacks in my car at all times. These are portable snacks that won’t melt in the car so we always have something ready in case we are running late and want to stall until we get home to make lunch or dinner. We just added Jif to Go Dippers to our car stash. These are fun little combo packs that include pretzels and either Jif peanut butter or chocolate peanut butter and they’ve been a huge hit with my kids. We pulled them out on a road trip over the weekend for a quick protein-packed snack and it helped tide my kids over until we were ready to do dinner.

Choose snacks that are easy to eat on the go. Some snacks are just better suited to eating while you are out and about. I love the Jif to Go Dippers for this because they are nice and filling, don’t tend to melt and are packaged up nicely for on the go snacking. Our other go-to snacks are granola bars, nuts, raisins, and sunflower seeds.

Snack before you are starving. When we are on the go, we take frequent snack breaks. That prevents anyone from having a meltdown because they are starving and keeps my kids more level. If we wait too long to take a snack break my kids tend to turn snack time into a meal and clean out my entire stash of snacks.

snacking on the go

Plan for messes. Don’t forget about cleanup! We keep a package of baby wipes in with our snacks so everyone can cleanup when they eat. I don’t know about  your kids, but mine won’t hesitate to use their clothes as a napkin if I don’t have something else ready to go.

We love this post as we know that it’s often difficult to find on-the-go snacks that are both tasty and healthy! Check out Rawr Bars, an all natural fruit & veggie snack bar that offer 1/2 a serving of both fruits and veggies. These snacks are a great way to get more veggies into kids’ diets and perfect for any on-the-go occasion!
