If you need a quick and easy holiday treat, these Peppermint Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are perfect for the job. With a festive candy cane topping, these are gorgeous served at a party or added to a neighbor treat plate.
We like to make neighbor treat plates every year. It’s so fun to bake with my kids and create some fun holiday memories and I love that they are learning to reach out to people around them. Giving back is such a major part of the holiday season that I think it’s an important lesson to learn young
Rice Krispie treats are always a hit and these Peppermint Oreo Rice Krispie Treats take things up a notch with some of your favorite holiday flavors. Still easy enough that even the youngest bakers can get in on the action, these are a hit all the way around.
Peppermint Oreo Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients
- 6 c Rice Krispie cereal
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 C crushed Oreos
- 1/2 C crushed candy canes
- 1/2 C chocolate chips
- 1 9×9 baking dish
- 1 C chocolate chips, melted (wait to do this after the rice Krispie bar is made)
- 1/4 C crushed candy canes for topping
- wax paper
- large deep saucepan
- non-stick spray
Peppermint Oreo Rice Krispie Treats Instructions
Cover your baking dish with a piece of wax paper, being sure that it is wide enough to come over the sides of the pan. Spray with non-stick spray and set aside.
In the saucepan melt the butter on medium heat.
Add in the mini marshmallows and mix until melted. Then add the cereal, Oreos, candy canes, 1/2 C chocolate chips and mix until combined
Scoop the Rice Krispie mixture into the pan and use another sheet of wax paper to press it down flat.
Let it sit and cool for 30 minutes.
Once cooled, melt the chocolate and pour into a piping bag.
Cut the tip of the piping bag and drizzle the chocolate onto the cooled Rice Krispie treats
Sprinkle the tops of your Rice Krispie treats with crushed candy canes
Let it set for 20 minutes before taking the Rice Krispies out of the pan.
