I’ve been counting down to 25 weeks. It feels like I can start checking off the weeks a bit faster now. Time has been moving so slowly in my little world that it seems to have taken forever to get here.
We are no where near ready for these babies to show up but I like knowing that if something did happen now, they’d at least have a shot.
How I’m Feeling Physically
During my last pregnancy I dealt with pelvic instability. Fortunately it didn’t hit me until the last few months of pregnancy but by the end I could hardly get out of bed because it hurt so bad to lift my legs separately. This time I knew I was in trouble because I started experiencing symptoms so much earlier.
This week I hit a wall. I’ve spent most of the week parked on my couch because going up and down the stairs multiple times a day is no longer an option.
I guess that’s one way to keep me down. My cervical length has stayed the same so I’m hoping we won’t see any more changes for a while. I go back next week for another measurement and growth scan next week so keep your fingers crossed for me.
I’m gained a few more pounds, but I’m having trouble keeping them on. I’m up about 10 pounds total right now. They wanted me closer to 25 pounds at this point but I guess I’ll take what I can get.
To keep things in perspective though, at 25 weeks I’m currently about the same size as I was when I delivered my daughter at 37 weeks. I’m a little scared to think of how big I’ll be at the end of this.
How I’m Preparing for Twins
Preparations are still kind of on hold at the moment since I’m not supposed to be doing much. My parents came in for a visit though so we were able to get some major decluttering done and a bit of bedroom rearranging to make room for the things the twins are going to need.
We live in a coastal area so square footage is at a premium. Eventually we’ll be moving into a bigger house but moving just isn’t an option right now since I can’t help much. As a temporary solution, my 10 year old decided he wanted to turn our loft into his bedroom. I felt kind of guilty sticking him with a room with no door but he loves it and I’ve decided there are worse things in the world than a tween having a room with no door.
Two major purchases I need to make are infant car seats and another crib mattress. Since I want to use my B-Ready as a twin stroller I’ll be getting two Britax B-Safe car seats. As far as the mattress goes, I’ve been very happy with the Lullaby Earth mattress I bought for my daughter when she was born. She’s still using that in her toddler bed so I need another one for the crib. The company is owned by Naturepedic so their mattresses are made with all non-toxic materials but they still very budget friendly.
