One of my all-time favorite burgers is the classic mushroom and swiss burger. This Mushroom Swiss Burger with Garlic Mayo tastes like a restaurant quality burger at home and is perfect for summer grilling.
There are very few things as satisfying as a great burger. We fire up the grill at least several times a week during the summer and this Mushroom Swiss Burger with Garlic Mayo is one that frequently makes an appearance on our dinner table.
This burger is serious comfort food and you really can’t go wrong with the combination of caramelized onions and mushrooms. Throw some swiss cheese on top and you pretty much have the perfect meal.
Mushroom Swiss Burger with Garlic Mayo Ingredients
- 1/4 pound burger patties
- Grill seasoning (this one is my favorite)
- 1 pound mushrooms, sliced
- 1-2 onions, thinly sliced
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Sliced Swiss cheese
- Hamburger buns, toasted
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1 Tbsp. crushed garlic
- 1 large handful of Arugula
Mushroom Swiss Burger with Garlic Mayo Preparation
Sprinkle your burger patties liberally with your favorite grill seasoning and cook to your personal preference. I love these on the grill but you could absolutely fry these in a frying pan if you’d like. Melt the swiss cheese on top for the last few minutes of cooking time.
In a large frying pan, combine the sliced onions and mushrooms with a drizzle of olive oil. Cook until the onions begin to caramelize. Add the Worcestershire sauce then remove from the heat.
To make the garlic mayo, combine 1/2 cup of mayo with 1 Tbsp. of crushed garlic. You can add more or less garlic depending on what you prefer.
To build your burger, spread the garlic may on your bun. I like a nice thick layer of this. Top with your burger with swiss cheese melted on top then spoon on a good portion of the mushroom mixture. Top with arugula and the top of the bun and enjoy!
